Information found in Marriage Register 2 page 269 of Washington Co., VA The Layne-Lain-Lane Genealogy book, by Floyd Benjamin Layne, mentions additional children: Lou and Sallie though no evidence apart from this book has been found. Notice also that this book lists Lou and Sally as the last two children of John Jr. and Esther (Kilgore) Layne. There was either some sort of mixup, or these children did not survive to adulthood.

  Notes	It was determined that Polly likely married William by process of elimination. We know that Polly marries a Kilgore from the 1838 deed signed by her and her siblings. William and Thomas Kilgore are the only candidates with any uncertainty about their wives. It seems Thomas' wife is born no later than 1780 which is much earlier than we would expect Polly to have been born, so that leaves William.
