• Notes

  There is another William Layne born around 1856 that is sometimes confused with this William. This other William (born 1856) married Nancy Leek (born 1861) on 15 Aug 1878 in Bradley Co., TN. They appear in the 1880 census in Bradley. By 1900 they are in Jackson Co., AL. In 1910 the family arrives in Marion Co., TN. If we go back to 1870, we find William living with parents Anderson (b 1817) and Margaret Layne (born 1820) in Bradley Co., and again in 1860. I'm not yet sure where, or if this line is connected to the John and Barbara (Devault) Layne line.
