• Notes

  Amanda says she is the daughter of Alex and Sarah (Floyd) Layne in her delayed birth certificate but I can't quite work out which Alex or Alexander this is. I suspect this is the son of David and Mary Ann (Kilgore) Layne except there is a problem. Alexander is listed with his parents in 1880 but there is another Alexander (Aleck) listed as living with Sarah and daughter Ida (1) in 1880. I believe that Ida goes on to marry George E Kilgore, son of Benjamin and Barbara Ann (McCurry) Kilgore. It's possible that Alexander is double counted in 1880 leading to the discrepancy.
