Compare to the children of David and Nancy Countess Layne who we know to be Kisiah 1871, J Hugh 1872, Sarah 1873, Narcisa 1874, Jane 1876, Henderson 1877, and Elizabeth 1879. It seems that Floyd Benjamin got a bit mixed up here. This Daniel and his children are a fabrication.

• Notes

  Name: Many researchers list Margaret's last name as "McGowan" which is, I believe, based on the 1850 census where, presumably her mother, is living with her and Abraham. Her mother's name is often transcribed as Nancy McGowan. To me this name appears to be Nancy M. Gowan. There are no McGowan's in the area during this time period but there are many Goins which is commonly misspelled Gowan or Gowen.
