    Notes 
    • I have not found any other sources that indicate that Flora married Humphrey and Elizabeth's Joseph Tate. However that Flora married a Joseph S Tate or Joe Tate born in 1867/8 is found in many locations. That Joseph S was born in Sequatchie County is the most compelling argument that I have the right Joe. The other is that of the 23 Joseph Tates listed in the 1880 census 3 were born in 1867/8 and only 1 of these is white. I would like to find more concrete evidence, but what I have seems pretty substantial.
