Fleser, Bogart, Layne, Tate Genealogy. Genealogical, ancestry and historical research and information. Genealogy is the study and tracing of family pedigrees. This involves collecting the names of relatives, both living and deceased, and establishing the relationships between them based on primary, secondary and/or circumstantial evidence or documentation, thus building up a cohesive family tree. Genealogy is sometimes also referred to as family history, although sometimes these terms are used distinctly: the former being the basic study of who is related to whom; the latter involving more "fleshing out" of the life and family histories of the individuals involved.

7 A note regarding the Sims children from Chad Sims, son of Joel Ray Sims (20 Mar 2007):

Charlie Brown and Mildred Layne had three children, one which was my grandmother, Charlene Brown. Charlene Brown married Billy Joe Sims and they had 4 children. Joel Ray Sims(my father), Brenda Lowery, Wayne Brown, and Ray Brown. They have different last names because they were spit up and adopted at a young age. My grandfather, Billy Joe, was in a car accident and his car trapped in the water. He caught pneumonia from that and died shortly after. Charlene could not handle the tragedy and 4 kids and had to give them up. My father went to Billy Joe's brother, Louis Sims. Brenda went to Billy Joe's sister, Katherine Lowery. The other two Wayne and Ray, went to a preacher in the town. Charlie, Mildred, Charlene, Billy Joe, and Ray have all passed away.

11 All that's known about David's wife is that she doesn't appear in on the 1830 census and it's assumed died before that time. Family: F283

12 Anney and Belle Lane listed living with William in 1880 census. Family: F462

13 As with Joseph Tate and Flora Layne, I have no concrete evidence that this John Tate is the one that married Mary Layne. Similar evidence exists in this situation as in the case of Joseph and Flora. Additionally, Joseph and John being brothers that lived nearby I think lends weight to this argument. Family: F1308

14 Belle was possibly Annie's sister? I'm listing all of the children (except Belle who was ceratinly Annie's according to the 1880 census) here until I can find out if any belonged to Annie. Family: F463

24 From the Tice Family history on Rootsweb:
When Francis & Christina first settled in Allegan Co, Michigan, two miles west of Bunker Hill, their home had no windows, just one door. Christina hung cloth over the door, but still couldn't sleep because of the howling and noise from all the bears, panthers, foxes, and wolves.

31 I believe the children listed here are Judy's from a prior marriage, but they may well be McArthur's children. I'm not 100% certain I am reading the information that I have correctly. Family: F1654

32 I have not found any other sources that indicate that Flora married Humphrey and Elizabeth's Joseph Tate. However that Flora married a Joseph S Tate or Joe Tate born in 1867/8 is found in many locations. That Joseph S was born in Sequatchie County is the most compelling argument that I have the right Joe. The other is that of the 23 Joseph Tates listed in the 1880 census 3 were born in 1867/8 and only 1 of these is white. I would like to find more concrete evidence, but what I have seems pretty substantial. Family: F1193
