That really sucks. I would have been as upset with the people that "did not know what to do with the luggage" in your former room. Yes, next time take RCCL or NCL. Anything but Carnival. I can promise you will have a much better experience. Staff is much more professional, better trained and more attentive.

" This time we found a purser that had pity on us. I wish desperately I could remember her name, all I can recall is that she was from Canada."

Well, of *course* she was! :)

And you seemed to have handled the misfortune with a great deal more grace than I would have. After the umptennth time to the purser, they would have had one very loud and very obnoxious passenger on their hands, demanding luggage and money! It would have looked like a holdup, if it had bee me. :)

You're right. After the first day we decided luggage be damned, we were going to enjoy ourselves.

As for the drinks, after the $17 Monkey Head Strawberry Daiquiri we kept a closer watch on how much money was being spent :)

But it was the FUN Ship, right? Here's a $7.00 drink. Now go have FUN!

We took the 4 day cruise out of Canaveral before xmas and agree, you have to keep a smile on your face and just deal with the bureaucracy. You all sound like you made the best of it. Sorry you had such turmoil.

We made the mistake of taking them at their word. They said they had talked to the people in U87 and we had even heard an announcement at one point for so and so in cabin U87. So we assumed it wasn't there.

I imagine the page was made, the occupants of U87 missed it and the pursers went about their other duties without noting that they hadn't actually spoken to these people. The next purser I spoke to most likely looked on the computer, noting that the occupants in U87 had been "contacted" and moved (or pretended to move) to the next step in the search. Just a guess, but probably a good one given what I came to discover as the days passed by.

I'll happily cede that Carnival dropped the ball pretty much at every single point they possibly could, and that it's certainly a tragic case here (funny in that schaudenfraude way) but still--why didn't you just drop by your original room, that you had written down originally, knock, and ask if they had seen it?

It's so easy to come up with solutions when you already know the answer... :\
